Main Functions
Torque transmission: Efficiently and reliably transfers the high-speed rotating torque output from the gearbox to the generator.
Displacement and misalignment compensation: As its core function, it accommodates complex dynamic displacements during wind turbine operation, including radial, angular and axial displacements.
Vibration and shock damping: Absorbs high-frequency micro-vibrations from the gearbox, cushions instantaneous torsional shocks from the generator, and protects gearbox gears.
Electrical insulation: The intermediate barrel in some designs provides electrical insulation, preventing current from the generator side from reaching the gearbox and avoiding electrical erosion of gearbox bearings.
Easy maintenance: As a detachable component, it eliminates the need for large-scale movement of the heavy gearbox or generator during coupling replacement or overhaul, simplifying maintenance work.
